หลักสูตรวิทยาศาสตรมหาบัณฑิต สาขาฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ เป็นหลักสูตรที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการประยุกต์รังสีฟิสิกส์ในทางการแพทย์ มุ่งเน้นผลิตมหาบัณฑิตที่สามารถพัฒนาและประยุกต์ศาสตร์ของฟิสิกส์ทางรังสีวินิจฉัย รังสีรักษาและเวชศาสตร์นิวเคลียร์ เพื่อการวินิจฉัยและรักษาโรค จัดการศึกษาโดยยึดผู้เรียนเป็นสำคัญ มุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาให้นักศึกษาสามารถจัดกระบวนการเรียนรู้ด้วยตนเองโดยวิธีการศึกษาค้นคว้าวิจัย และเรียนรู้จากการปฏิบัติ เพื่อความเป็นนักวิชาการและนักวิชาชีพด้านฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ที่มีความรู้ความสามารถในระดับสูงและมีคุณธรรมจรรยาบรรณทางวิชาชีพ
Master of Science Program in Medical Physics involves in the application of radiation physics in medicine. The program emphasizes on producing graduates who are capable of developing and applying sciences of diagnostic imaging physics, radiotherapeutic physics and nuclear medicine physics in diagnosis and treatment of diseases in a safe use approach. The program employs a student – center methodology in curriculum development as such courses are designed to help students acquiring the capability in orientation of self-learning from research and practice to become a knowledgeable scholar and a medical physicist with high professional skill and high moral and ethical principles. Currently the radiation technology in medicine continues to change rapidly, with proper great in depth of teaching and learning, the graduates will play a key role to be a quality assurance staff who will guarantee that the quality, safety and outcome for patient care in the clinic are achieve professional standard.
ประวัติของหลักสูตร รงเรียนฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ได้เริ่มโครงการจัดตั้งขึ้นตามแผนการโคลัมโบเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2511 โดยศาสตราจารย์นายแพทย์กวี ทังสุบุตร จนกระทั่งในปี พ.ศ. 2512 องค์การอนามัยโลก (WHO) ตกลงให้ความช่วยเหลือโดยส่งผู้เชี่ยวชาญ 1 ท่าน มาประจำอยู่ด้วย 2 ปี จุดประสงค์ของการจัดตั้งโรงเรียนฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ เพื่อจัดตั้งเป็นหลักสูตรหลังปริญญา (postgraduate course) ในสาขา Medical Physics เพื่อขจัดความขาดแคลน นักฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ โรงเรียนฟิสิกส์การแพทย์เปิดรับนักศึกษาในปี พ.ศ. 2514 เปิดสอนหลักสูตรหลังปริญญา 1 ปี โดยมีผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์รัตนา พีรบูล เป็นผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียน ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2515 ได้เปิดสอนในระดับปริญญาโทหลักสูตรวิทยาศาสตร์มหาบัณฑิต ระยะเวลาการศึกษา 2 ปี จนถึงปัจจุบัน โรงเรียนฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ได้ผลิตบัณฑิตระดับมหาบัณฑิต จำนวน 181 คน
The Master of Science Program in Medical Physics offered at Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital has been established since 1971 with the aid of World Health Organization (WHO) in staff and curriculum development. Due to inadequate number of medical physicists in Thailand, the purpose of the program became explicit to educate and train young scientists to be medical physicists working in fields of radiation therapy, nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology. By reason of shortage of lecturers, the program was opened every other year up until 2013. The program was then revised, and currently the program has enrolled students continuously every academic year. The program is revised every 5 years and the current curriculum was used in academic year 2018. Nowadays, the program has educated more than 181 medical physicists to serve universities and hospitals throughout the country.
