Phanuwich received his MD degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Ramathibodi Hospital in 2015. His inspiration to delve deeper into health policy and systems research stemmed from his experiences as acting director and deputy director of a community hospital. During this time, he encountered numerous complex challenges within healthcare systems at both the meso- and macro-levels of national policy. This ignited his passion for pursuing research aimed at improving universal health coverage.

Since 2018, he has been working at Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, where he has utilized systems thinking concepts and tools in his role as a research assistant and systems thinking facilitator for both public and private sectors. his journey has evolved, and he has taken on the role of principal investigator in several research projects dedicated to advancing universal health coverage in Thailand. His research particularly focuses on intermediate care, emergency care, and care for migrant populations.

From 2020 to 2023, he served as the assistant dean for student affairs at Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, where he facilitated the establishment of the Ramathibodi Medical Student Councils. These councils became leaders in student engagement at both national and international levels, receiving the 'Aspire for Excellence' award for student engagement at the AMEE international conference in 2022. He has also been a speaker on student engagement for several medical schools and at numerous national and international conferences.

In addition to his research, he is deeply committed to health systems science education and research for medical students. he currently teaches a patient experience course and a patient safety and quality course, each attended by 200 medical students annually. Moreover, he mentors medical students who are interested in health policy and systems research as well as research on complexity science. Many of their works have been accepted for presentation at global academic conferences, with up to 20 pieces of work presented, and some have been selected for publication in Q1 scientific journals.

His work aims to integrate health systems science into medical education, fostering a new generation of medical professionals who are well-equipped to tackle the challenges of healthcare systems and contribute to the advancement of universal health coverage.
