Research Data Governance

 

Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CEB), Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University is committed to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in all its research endeavors. The proper management and governance of research data at every stage of its lifecycle from planning and collecting to analysis, sharing, preservation, and final disposal is essential to this commitment.

 

In order to maximize the value and impact of our research while guaranteeing compliance with pertinent laws, regulations, ethical standards, and funder requirements, this Research Data Governance Statement describes the guiding principles that direct our approach to research data management as follow:

 

  • Accountability: Every investigator engaged in research data activities has responsibility for their actions and for complying by this statement.

 

  • Transparency: Data management practices have to be transparent, well-documented, and openly communicated where appropriate, promoting trust and reproducibility.

 

  • Integrity and Quality: Research data from the warehouse has to be retrieved, processed, and stored with the highest attention to accuracy, completeness, and reliability, ensuring its fitness for the research purpose.

 

  • Security and Confidentiality: Appropriate technical and organizational measures have to be implemented to protect research data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, while respecting privacy and confidentiality obligations.

 

  • Ethical Conduct: All data handling must be conducted in accordance with ethical principles, including participant rights and responsible use of sensitive information.

 

  • Compliance: It is essential to follow all relevant organization and national laws, rules, institutional guidelines, and funder requirements pertaining to privacy, data security, intellectual property, and research ethics.

  • Accessibility and Discoverability: Research data must be made as accessible and discoverable as possible, consistent with ethical, legal, and contractual constraints, to promote re-use and collaboration.
