Philosophy of the Program 

This program is designed to correspond to the Deaf way needs. It is based on the principle of societies, cultures, languages, communication, and technologies for careers through various learning experiences in both theory and practice. The program emphasizes on developing the learners' body, mind, and intelligence for self-understanding, self-learning with the awareness of cross languages, cross cultures, and coexistence among Deaf and hearing.

Program Objectives

The program aims to produce graduates with knowledge in area of Deaf studies and professional skills of Commercial Design or Thai Sign Language Interpreting. After graduation, the graduates will obtain knowledge and skills as follows:

  • 1. Knowledge of Commercial Design or Thai Sign Language Interpreting ethics.
  • 2. Knowledge of Commercial Design or Thai Sign Language interpreting.
  • 3. Knowledge explanation, analysis, synthesis, and application in area of Deaf Studies with academic principles.
  • 4. Social skills for working cooperation.
  • 5. Skills of information analysis, communication, and information technology for professions.
  • 6. Skills of professions.

  • After graduation, graduates will have learning outcomes as follows:
  • PLO1: Working cooperation among Deaf and hearing with accepting individuals' language and cultural differences.
  • PLO2: Using appropriate Thai Sign Language and Thai language in communication.

  • PLO4: Interpreting in both Thai Sign Language and Thai Language in general situations.

  • - No class on Saturday and Sundays, and holiday as announced by the government and Mahidol University but can allow extra classes on the weekend as needed in each course on holiday from the university.
  • Admission Requirements
  • Hearing applicant's qualifications are as follows
  • 1. Applicants must be a person who can hear and listen to Thai languages clearly.
  • 2. Applicants must have completed high school or passed an equivalent high standard test.
  • The deaf applicant's qualifications are as follows
  • 1. Applicants who are deaf or have hard of hearing.
  • 2. Applicants must have completed high school or passed an equivalent high standard test.
  • 3. Applicants must have the good of using Thai sign language.
  • Applicants who have not reached the listed above qualifications, to be at the discretion of the Student Selection Examination Committee.

  • Requirement for graduation
  • According to Mahidol University Regulations on Diploma and Undergraduate Studies of the Year B.E. 2552
  • 1. Complete all credits and pass the examination of the subjects as specified by the curriculum.
  • 2. Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00
  • 3. Complete full-time study according to plan (not over 8 years).
  • 4. Students do not have any debt obligations with the university.
  • 5. Students have good behavior appropriate to the dignity of the Degree.
  • 6. Students must pass compulsory activities according to the criteria of the university.
  • 7. Meet English proficiency requirement announced by Mahidol University and the faculty of Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University.
