Philosophy of the Program
The program focuses on providing education that corresponds the needs and the way of life of the deaf through organizing learning experiences in a various conformation. With emphasis on bilingual and bicultural teaching and learning through inclusive learning between deaf students and hearing students. To develop learners completely with physically, mentally, intellectually, students have their own inner understanding, can build the knowledge themselves, accept the difference, consist of the teacher spirit, and teaching skills for the deaf based on understanding in the cultural differences between the deaf and hearing people.
Program Objectives
- 1. Have morals and academic profession ethics as a teacher.
- 2. Have knowledge and skills in designing the teaching and learning management plans for students with hearing impairment by using the appropriate principles of educational theories for each group of learners.
- 3. Have knowledge and skills in teaching and learning management according to the specified lesson plan for students with hearing impairment.
- 4. Have knowledge and skills in using Thai Sign Language for communication and learning and teaching management for students with hearing impairment.
- 5. Able to work with diverse people appropriately based on understanding oneself and others.
Program–level Learning Outcomes : PLOs
- After graduation, graduates will have learning outcomes as follows:
- PLO1:Conduct oneself according to the standards of morality, academic and teacher profession ethics.
- PLO2:Design the teaching and learning management plan for students with hearing impairment by using the theories concept appropriate to the group of learners.
- PLO3:Provide the Teaching and learning according to the specified plan for students with hearing impairment.
- PLO4:Using Thai Sign Language for communication and teaching and learning providing for students with hearing impairment.
- PLO5:Work with diverse people appropriately based on understanding oneself and others.
Date and time of the course teaching
- - Conducting regular program and transfer program during office hours
- -Semester 1: August to December
- -Semester 2: January to April
- Summer semester: May to July
- -No class on Saturday and Sunday, and holidays as announced by Thai government and Mahidol University but extra classes are allowed on the weekend as needed in each course on holidays from the University.
Admission Requirements
- A hearing person who has the following qualifications:
- 1. Be a hearing person.
- 2. graduated at least a high school level or equivalent.
- 3. Passed the test for measuring the qualifications of a teacher and passed the criteria of the Office of the Higher Education Commission and/or according to the selection regulations which the College determines.
- 4. Have a good attitude and appropriate characteristics for the teacher profession.
- People with hearing impairment have the following qualifications:
- 1. Be a hearing impaired person.
- 2. graduated at least a high school level or equivalent.
- 3. Be a person who can use Thai sign language for communication.
- 4. Passed the teacher qualifications test and passed the criteria of the Office of the Higher Education Commission and/or according to the selection regulations which the College determines.
- 5. Have a good attitude and appropriate characteristics for the teacher profession.
Applicants with qualifications other than those listed above will be under the consideration of the selection committee. - Career After Graduation
- 1. A teacher who provides the class for people with hearing impairment in elementary and primary school level.
- 2. An Educational Academician in deaf education at the elementary and primary school level.
- Requirement for graduation
- According to Mahidol University Regulations on Diploma and Undergraduate Studies of the Year B.E. 2552
- 1. Complete all credits and pass the course as the required by the program.
- 2. Gain the cumulative GPA not less than 2.00 throughout the program.
- 3. No debt obligations with the University.
- 4. Be a person with good behavior appropriate for the degree dignity.
- 5. Pass the teacher enhancing activities according to the curriculum criteria.
- 6. Pass the English language proficiency assessment criteria announced by Mahidol University.
