
October 30, 2024 – A delegation from Academia Sinica, Taiwan's premier research institution, conducted a significant visit to Mahidol University as part of a collaborative program aimed at fostering research and innovation in health sciences. The event took place at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital in the Meeting Room 304-305, 3rd floor, His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2007 Building (SiMR).
The day began with heartfelt welcome remarks and greetings before the participants engaged in three concurrent group discussions focusing on critical areas of research:
1. Cancer, Disease Biomarkers, and Microbiota
2. Modeling for Public Health Issues, including Air Pollution, Lung Cancer, and Heat Stress
3. Drug Development and Delivery
These dynamic discussions allowed experts to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and explore collaborative opportunities that could enhance research outcomes in their respective fields.
Following the group discussions, attendees were given an opportunity to visit the Siriraj Genomics Center, where they could observe cutting-edge genomic research, further bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in health sciences.
The Academia Sinica delegation included notable researchers such as Cheng-Chung Wang, Joseph Jen-Tse Huang, and Hsien-Ming Lee, among others. Mahidol University was represented by executives from various faculties including the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Public Health, and the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies. On this occasion, Prof. Chatchai Muanprasat, M.D., Ph.D Assistant Dean for Research Administration; Dr. Titiwat Sungkaworn, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education, and Dr.Nithi Asavaparnumas, Ph.D, Lecturer of Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute, represented the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital.
This visit signifies an important step in strengthening ties between international research institutions and highlights Mahidol University's commitment to advancing healthcare research and education. With the collaborative insights gained from this program, both institutions are poised to make meaningful contributions to public health research and innovation.
