The 5th edition of the NUHS-Harvard BIDMC Internal Medicine Conference 2021 will be held via the online platform on 29-31 October 2021 in line with the theme of “Advancing Medicine, Inspiring Care”. This conference started off as a partnership between NUHS and Harvard-BIDMC as an internal medicine conference targeted at residents with the aim of helping them keep abreast with updates in the medical fields. September 17, 2021, 17.30 P.M. – 19.30 P.M., the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, together with Kansai Medical University, Japan, co-hosted the Virtual Academic Mobility via the web conferencing platform Zoom under the theme of "the 2nd Clinico-pathological Conference for students (Autopsy Findings)". This online activity focused on exchanging knowledge which brings more opportunities and broader viewpoints on the clinical pathology subject. Moreover, the activity yet encouraged students, both Thai and Japanese, to improve their English communication skills outside of their classes through the presentation and discussion.
The virtual event, moderated by Dr. Chisato Oh-e, the lecturer pathologist from KMU, was attended by 50 participants, from both Ramathibodi and KMU. After the opening remarks and the Self – introduction session by each student, the session of Clinical Medicine Quiz was conducted lively with students' participation and expert comments from Dr.Oh-e. The event ended with the Free Discussion which also received a lot of attention from all participants. On this occasion, Prof. Koichi Tomoda, President of KMU kindly attended the event as the observer.
Despite the pandemic and the inability in reaching interested people offline, Ramathibodi and partners are still proactive in online dissemination with a great effort on social media and online events in hope to support further academic and research collaboration.

 

Between September 3 – 4, 2021, the International University, Cambodia, hosted the “10th ASEAN Medical Deans’ Summit” via the zoom online platform in spite of ​the heavy pandemic of the COVID-19 in order to promote collaboration among leading medical schools in the ASEAN region, to leverage medical education and health systems towards international excellence.
The virtual online event on the 1st day started on September 3, 2021, with an opening remark delivered by the President of ASEAN Medical School Network, Prof. Chong Yap Seng, Dean of NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore, following by the academic discussions on 4 themes including: “Protection of IP for Online Materials”, “Social Media Navigation/Fake News from Educators’ Perspective”, “Volunteerism Practices Being Adapted in Response to Pandemic”, and “Student Mobility”. On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Pongtong Puranitee, MD, MHPE, Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education, attended the event as the representative of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University.
Next, on September 4, 2021, the event started with welcomes by Assoc. Prof. Em Samney, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, International University, Cambodia, before continuing with the discussions are on the themes including: “Continual Training of Medical Students in the Midst of COVID Measures” and “COVID Research That Each Institution Has Developed”. Prof.Suradej Hongeng, Deputy Dean for Research; as the representative of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, provided his special lecture regarding "Thai Herbs in COVID-19 Research" in the session of “COVID Research That Each Institution Has Developed”.
The 2 day virtual ASEAN Medical Deans’ Summit ended with the session of ASEAN Medical Schools Network Board Meeting which, at the end of the session, allowed the representing medical students to present their idea on "ASEAN Medical Students Dialogue Brainstorming: Benefit and challenges of an ASEAN Medical School Network Student Chapter". Representing medical students from Ramathibodi including Ms.Chawisa Teansue and Ms.Panattaphorn Tangguay also attended this session.

 

On Monday, August 23, 2021, at Room 418, Medical Learning Resource Center and Ramathibodi School of Nursing Building, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, Prof. Sirintara Singhara Na Ayudhya, M.D., Deputy Dean for International Relations, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poolsuk Janepanish Visudtibhan, Director, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, and Dr. Jumpee Granger, Deputy Director for International Relations Department, as well as the other faculty member of Ramathibodi School of Nursing attending via the online platform, provided a warm welcome to Professor Dr. Laura Yueh-Guey Huang, President of Hungkuang University, on the occasion of visit Ramathibodi School of Nursing in order to discuss on education, research, and academic collaboration in the area of Nursing Science. After the discussion session, Professor Dr.Laura Yueh-Guey Huang had a site visit at the teaching system of the Simulation Lab, computer room, and Smart classroom.
