
March 12, 2025, Bangkok - the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, warmly welcomed esteemed guests Professor Béla Merkely, M.D., Ph.D., Rector of Semmelweis University, Hungary, and His Excellency Dr. Sándor Sipos, Ambassador of Hungary to Thailand, at a special event held in the Medical Learning Resource Center and Ramathibodi School of Nursing Building's Meeting Room no. 810A.
The event was hosted by Associate Professor Sirin Apiyasawat, M.D., Assistant Dean for International Relations of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital; on behalf of Ramathibodi's Executives, served as a platform to strengthen ties between the two institutions. Both Prof. Merkely and Ambassador Sipos attended alongside delegates from Semmelweis University and the Hungarian Embassy in Bangkok.
Firstly, Professor Merkely, a renowned cardiologist, delivered an insightful lecture titled “Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in Heart Failure: The Results of the Budapest CRT Trial.” His presentation was met with enthusiastic participation from Ramathibodi's cardiology professionals, including cardiologists, residents, and fellows from the Department of Internal Medicine. The interactive Q&A session that followed highlighted the audience's eagerness to engage with advanced cardiac care strategies.
Following the lecture, delegates from Semmelweis University and the Embassy engaged in constructive discussions on potential collaborations in education and academic initiatives with representatives from Ramathibodi which led by Associate Professor Sirin Apiyasawat, M.D., Assistant Dean for International Relations; Assoc. Prof. Soamarat Vilaiyuk, M.D., Deputy Dean for Graduate Education; Associate Professor Usanarat Anurathapan, Assistant Dean for Research Administration; Associate Professor Thosaphol Limpijankit, M.D., Head of the Division of Cardiology, the Department of Internal Medicine, Associate Professor Teerapat Yingchoncharoen, M.D., as well as more representatives from the Division of Cardiology. The meetings were described as productive and optimistic, indicating a promising future for partnership between the two esteemed institutions.
