Mahidol University joining hands with healthcare entities and research institutes in Thailand – the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI), and the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), visited Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao University, PR China, to push “YMID Ecosystem for Proton Therapy and Service Platform” project forward, which is the collaborative project comprising of various medical institutes, educational institutes, and research institutes in Yothi district, to elevate the proton treatment and research in Thailand.
On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Suchin Worawichawong, M.D., Deputy Dean for International Relations, and Dr. Poompis Pattaranutaporn, M.D., Assistant Dean for Information Technology, and Dr. Suphalak Khachonkham, Ph.D, a medical physicist represented the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Jiraporn Setakornnukul, M.D., Ph.D, a radiation oncologist represented the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with Dr. Peerawitch Tupwongse, M.D. represented the National cancer institute (NCI), Dr. Somjai Chunjarean, Ph.D. represented the Synchrotron Light Research Institute, and Dr. Vithit Pungkun, Ph.D. represented the Office of Atoms for Peace, and the experts in medical physicists, had the collaborative meeting and received a cordial greeting from Prof. Chen Jiayi, Chair of the Department of Radiotherapy together with Ruijin’s oncologists, medical physicists and the engineering team from Shanghai APACTRON Particle Equipment Co., Ltd led by Prof. CHEN Zhilling and Prof. ZHANG Manzhou. This visit is expected to pave the way to a new advancement in proton therapy in Thailand and deepen the relationships between the two nations.
Last but not least, Prof. CHEN Haitao, Vice President of Ruijin Hospital, extended the warmest welcome to the delegation at Ruijin Hospital Main Campus and introduced the rich history of the Hospital by visiting Ruijin Hospital History Exhibition Hall, delivering a memorable experience for the expert team.
