On July 2, 2024, the special welcome session was held at the Warrawut Meeting Room, 4th floor, the Administrative Building, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital. Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, M.D., President-elect of Mahidol University; Asst. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication; Clin. Prof. Artit Ungkanont, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital; as well as the executives and faculty members from the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and the Department of Otolaryngology joined together to welcome the honorable guests in attendance including Mr. Anoulack Chanthivong, MP, Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Minister for Building, Minister for Corrections; Ms. Julia Feeney, Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy; Representatives from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, the Australian Embassy, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chadchart Sittipunt, the Governor of Bangkok, also joined the gathering.
The visit aimed to introduce the NSW Minister and exchange insights following a Thai delegation visit to Sydney. Updates were given on the Thailand newborn screening project and the establishment of the early hearing detection and intervention committee, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing policies in this important area as well as the progress report on the “ASEAN Hearing Hub” project and Cotutelle Ph.D. Program development, a joint research unit initiated by the cooperation between the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital of Mahidol University, and Macquarie University, Australia.
During the meeting, presentations were made on "the Mahidol-Macquarie Joint Unit Project" and "The Development of Telepractice System for Auditory Diagnosis Services" by Dr. Sittiprapa Isarangura, Ph.D., Dr. Sivaporn Kiatthanabumrung, M.D., and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jitpakorn Pichaitanaporn, Ph.D, respectively. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chadchart Sittipunt, the Governor of Bangkok, and his son – Mr. Sanpiti Sittipunt also shared their personal experience about cochlear implants. The visit concluded with a tour of the Speech and Hearing Clinic at the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, where all delegates were warmly welcomed.
