The Medical Elective and Short Course Training program is meant to give additional clinical experience and training to qualified applicants who are in the period of Elective or Short Course Training rotation according to their university syllabus.
Training is conducted on an individual basis for five days a week. Applicants take part in daily departmental activities such as supervised ward rounds, bedside instruction, OPD sessions, seminars, and conferences. Observation of most professional activities is also included. However, practical hands-on training is prohibited due to the Thai Medical Board's rules and regulations.
Thai Education Visa Information
Non-Immigrant Visa "ED" (Education) is the type of visa issued to applicants who wish to study, attend seminars, undergo training, or an internship in Thailand.
All individuals who wish to apply for elective, clerkship, or rotation with Ramathibodi must apply for an ED visa through valid institutions such as the Thai Embassy or Thai Consulate-General to issue legal travel and stay permissions.
The Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital is not responsible for any lapses in process in visa approval, and is by no means any representative or liaison of the Thai Office of the Immigration Bureau and its agents or partners. The validity of the ED visa is 90 days.
Period of Stay
The holder of this type of visa is entitled to stay in Thailand for a maximum period of 90 days. He or she may apply for an extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau and may be granted such extension for a period of one year from the date of first entry into Thailand.

Reporting of Foreign Residence
The Immigration Bureau must be informed when a foreigner resides with or rents the property of a Thai citizen.
