Research area

Our main research interest is drug discovery for unmet medical need with the emphasis on target identification, high-throughput screening, mechanism investigation and in vivo efficacy evaluation. Collections of synthetic small molecules, compounds from plants and microorganisms, and macromolecules including bioactive peptides/polymers are being investigated.

Our current target diseases include aging-associated disorders (e.g. diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, obstructive/restrictive pulmonary diseases) and diarrhea-associated conditions across all ages. We target the important cellular processes including membrane transport (e.g. ion and xenobiotic transport), membrane signaling (e.g. G protein-coupled receptors, nutrient-sensing receptors and post-biotics-sensing receptors) and intracellular signaling (e.g. AMP-activated protein kinase).
