
**Bangkok, Thailand – February 26, 2025** – In a collaborative effort to enhance medical understanding and practices, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital hosted delegates from Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH), and Central Regional Referral Hospital (CRRH), the Kingdom of Bhutan, for a study visit focused on Antimicrobial Consumption (AMC) Monitoring in Humans. The event took place from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the meeting room no.714, located on the 7th floor of the Medical Learning Resource Center and Ramathibodi School of Nursing Building at Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Phayathai Campus.
The warm welcome was extended by key figures from Ramathibodi Hospital; Prof. Dr. Atiporn Ingsathit, Director; along with Asst. Prof. Pariya Phanachet, Deputy Director; Assoc.Prof. Kumthorn Malathum, M.D., Medical Instructor in Medicine; Ms. Pakwan Bunupuradah, Head of the Pharmacy Division; and Ms. Nantaporn Lekpittaya, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Section, as well as the representatives from the Medical Instructors in Medicine, Clinical Pharmacists, and the Department of Infectious Disease & Prevention Control.
The visit was co-arranged by International Health Policy Foundation led by Dr. Viroj Tangcharoensathien, Senior advisor and Advisor on Global Health to the Ministry of Public Health, who kindly provided Opening Remarks of the Study Visit Briefing, Background, Importance, Objectives and Introduction of Participants.
The morning session featured insightful presentations from Ramathibodi Hospital on key topics, including: Infection Prevention and Control Services - Presented by Assoc. Prof. Darunee Chotiprasitsakul, M.D.; Antimicrobial Stewardship - Presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sophida Boonsathorn; and Hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Strategies: Medication System - Presented by Ms. Nantaporn Lekpittaya.
The Bhutanese delegates also contributed to the discussions with their own presentations on Antimicrobial Consumption, focusing on Data Collection and Analysis, and Antimicrobial Stewardship/Infection Prevention and Control, articulated by Mr. Kezang Tshering, Head of the Department of Pharmacy at JDWNRH and National Focal Point for WHO GLASS-AMC.
In the afternoon, the program included a pharmacy site visit, where participants observed the Pharmacy's Antimicrobial Stewardship Program ward rounds and the innovative robotic systems employed for medication dispensing by pharmacy technicians.
This study visit represents a significant step towards strengthening international collaboration in public health and enhancing best practices in antimicrobial stewardship among healthcare professionals, fostering a shared commitment to improving health outcomes.
