RIKEN IMS accepts applications from talented students/postdocs for the FY2025 RIKEN IMS internships.
๐ Program Description
The RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences creates innovative medical science through interdisciplinary approaches including genome-wide medical science, immunology, physiology, bioinformatics, and molecular sciences. This internship program, launched in 2018 and resumed in 2024 after COVID suspension, hosts young international scientists.
๐ฐSupport Categories
Category 1 (Students): Lodging, travel expenses, internship allowance (3,000 yen/working day)
Category 2 (Young postdocs): Lodging and travel expenses only
*Lodging rates: up to 11,600 yen/day (1-30 days), 10,440 yen/day (31-60 days), 9,280 yen/day (61+ days)
Eligibility
Category 1: Master's/PhD/medical students; Category 2: Postdocs within 3 years of PhD. Must be enrolled during internship period.

1. Contact Lab: Choose from RIKEN IMS lab list, confirm FY2024 hosting availability
2. Develop Topic: Discuss research proposal with team leader
3. Submit Materials (at least 4 months early, in English):
- CV
- Purpose statement (1 page, A4)
- Research background (1 page, A4)
- Desired dates (1-3 months duration)
- GDPR form (EU/UK residents only)
- *A recommendation letter must be sent directly from the applicant's supervisor to host team leader.
