On Wednesday 23 August, 2023, at Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute (CNMI), Samut Prakarn Province,  Professor Piyamitr Sritara, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, alongside esteemed dignitaries including Mr. Worawoot Pongprapapant, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication of Mahidol University; Assoc. Prof. Wicharn Choktanasiri, M.D., Deputy Dean for Strategy and Director of CNMI; Dr. Pairoj Boonkongchuen, M.D., Director of Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital; Mr. Chotiphat Bijananda, Chairman of Executive Board, Thai Group Holdings Plc., and Ms. Prettaya Sutchasila, Managing Director, Southeast Life Insurance Plc., as well as executives and staff of those mentioned organizations, graciously welcomed the honorable delegations from Middle Eastern Embassies in Thailand on Wednesday, 23 August 2023, at CNMI in Samut Prakarn.

The distinguished guests included: 

1. H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulaziz Alsuhaibani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Thailand.

2. H.E. Mr. Ahmed Ali A.J. Al Tamimi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Thailand.

3. H.E. Mr. Seyed Reza Nobakhti, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Thailand.

4. H.E. Mr. Moustapha Mahmoud Moustapha Elkouny, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Thailand.

5. Mr. Majid Saeed Thani Bin Huraiz Alfalasi, Attaché, Charge' d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Bangkok.

6. Mr. Mohamed Abdulrahim Abdulrahman Alghareeb, Second Secretary, Charge' d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Bangkok.

7. Mr. Abdulaziz A A A Alhouti, First secretary of the Embassy of the State of Kuwait.

The purpose of this visit is for the ambassadors to experience firsthand the technological advancement of the CNMI, and potentially to expand Thailand-Middle East cooperation in the field of medical sciences and medical services. This would also support Thailand’s policy of becoming a Medical Hub for overseas patients. During their visit, the delegation visited various departments and services of the institute, including the Emergency room, Diagnostic Radiology unit, Rehabilitation center, Intensive care unit (ICU), Catheterization Laboratory, Critical Care Unit (CCU) and 7G - the most recent advancement in medical technology. 

Professor Dr. Piyamit Sritara, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, expressed gratitude to the distinguished delegation and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in healthcare development and research. This visit is considered an important step in strengthening the relationship between Thailand and the Middle East, with similar goals of raising healthcare standards and promoting mutual understanding.
