Mr. Yossawat Suwanlikit is a sixth-year medical student at the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. His project entitled about potential therapeutic utility of cellular reprogramming in reversing age-related mitochondrial dysfunction in human aged neurons. Age-related neurodegenerative diseases such as Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease are among the most common diseases in elderly. Since aging society has been expanding worldwide, the number of people affected by these ailments is correlated increasing. Together with the fact that there is no effective treatment against the diseases, these emphasize the significance and urgency of novel therapeutic intervention development against these disorders. One of the promising therapies is application of cellular reprogramming, which is evidenced to ameliorate age-related mitochondrial dysfunction observed in aging cells. Therefore, Mr. Yossawat intends to study the effect of the cellular reprogramming technology over mitochondrial function in human aged neurons to develop novel treatment for the age-related neurodegenerative diseases in aging population.

Mr. Pharanyoo Osotthanakorn is a sixth-year medical student at the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. His project deal with “Implementation of value-based payment for improving diabetic care in the primary care setting of Thailand.” Diabetes is an important non-communicable disease with high prevalence and burden, causing not only significant loss of health and lives, but also manpower and financial burden. Current diabetic care systems in Thailand cannot achieve the targeted goal, which is depending on the patients’ ability to control their blood sugar level. The disease tends to be more aggravating in the future due to aging society and people’s behavior. Mr. Osotthanakorn is interested in systemic problem solving and system development of diabetic care, by the concept of value-based healthcare, which is focusing on outcome measurement and payment designing for primary care providers of Thailand. He expects advancement of care behavior for better health outcomes, leading to diminishing people’s illness and improving Thai’s health in the future.
