Opening Ceremony for Joint Undergraduate Educational Program in Nursing between Kunming Medical University and Mahidol University

On September 23, 2021, at No.1 Reporting Hall, the Academic Exchange Centre, Kunming Medical University (Chenggong Campus ), plus, via the VOOV online platform, the Opening Ceremony for Joint Undergraduate Educational Program in Nursing between Kunming Medical University, China, and Mahidol University, Thailand, was organized under the new normal measures.

The ceremony comprised the congratulated speeches from several related participants; both from China and Thailand, and ended with the New Nurse Swearing Ceremony. The opening remarks were delivered by the Leader from Yunnan Provincial Department of Education; Ms. Wang Yuan, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Foreign Affairs, following by speeches from H.E. Mongkol Visitstump, the Consul-General Royal Thai Consulate-General to Kunming, to congratulate the success of the collaboration between Kunming Medical University and Mahidol University.

Following with the congratulatory speeches from representatives of those related to the establishment of this Joint Undergraduate Educational Program in Nursing; the KMU side consisted of Prof. Li Song, President; Prof. Zhang Ying, Dean of School of Nursing; while Mahidol was honored by Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, President and Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, to express their congratulations via video clip, before Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poolsuk Janepanish Visudtibhan, Director of Ramathibodi. School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, delivered online congratulatory speeches. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communications, Mahidol University; Professor Sirintara Singhara Na Ayudhaya, Deputy Dean for International Relations, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital; Asst. Prof. Dr. Streerut Thadakant, Deputy Director for Policy and Planning Department and Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital, Ramathibodi School of Nursing; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jumpee Granger, Deputy Director for International Relations, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, honored the ceremony with their participation throughout the program.

Ramathibodi School of Nursing has been accredited by ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUNQA) , as the first in Thailand. It has also been entrusted to launch a Joint Undergraduate Educational Program in Nursing with KMU, China. This joint program will respond to the policy on driving up the educational standards at the international level. The Students of the program will be granted double degrees once they graduate; from both Ramathibodi and Kunming. They will spend their first two years in Kunming, China, the third year in Thailand, and internship for another 1 year, under close guidance from both Thai and Chinese advisors.
