6. Session/Academic year: 2 weeks in October, November and March (4 weeks could be considered if the applicants would like to spend time learning this course for a full 4-week period)
7. Course Description: The elective rotation in neonatology is opened to medical students and pediatric residents interested in neonatology care in Thailand. Elective trainees will work in our special care nursery or NICU with a multidisciplinary team including attending staff, neonatal fellows, pediatric residents and nurses. Elective trainees will participate in rounds and seminars discussing the optimal care for sick babies. They will also have opportunities to assist a team with the care of sick neonates, attend high-risk deliveries such as preterm delivery, and attend the neonatal clinic with long-term follow up care.

8. Objectives:

1)  To understand fetal circulation, transition period and neonatal circulation

2)  To learn about common neonatology problems such as hyperbilirubinemia, sepsis, respiratory distress

3)  To learn about the care of high-risk neonates admitted in the NICU

4)  To gain experience in the out-patient care
