About Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital

Bachelor of Science in Medical Emergency Operations Program

Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital of Mahidol University was established in the year 1965, which was the fourth Faculty of Medicine established in Thailand. The first Dean was Prof. Emeritus Dr. Aree Valayasevathum, who received the Ramon Magsaysay Award as a community leader in 1987. Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital aims to create and transfer knowledge in clinical medicine and nursing for academic and research excellence by having Ramathibodi Hospital, Medical Centers and Center of Excellence that serves the patients to support teaching, learning and research activities as an integrated system. Our special feature is the ability to produce graduates in medicine, nursing and health sciences in the same faculty, hence, integrating teaching and learning, health care services, research in medicine, nursing, and health sciences, which enhances multidisciplinary teamwork effectively. In 1965, the faculty opened for admission to 64 medical students and, currently, 180 medical students per year, along with approximately 180 residency students per year. Ramathibodi Hospital has been servicing since 1969, as a standardized hospital initially with 600 beds that served at every level from primary to higher than tertiary level. Later, there was an expansion of space and services to Queen Sirikit Medical Center (in 1995) and Somdech Phra Deparatana Medical Center (in 2011), where there is a total of 1,300 beds at present.
