In the light of the Pediatric Boxers Research Project conducted by Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Centre(AIMC) in collaboration with Child Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention Center (CSIP), Mahidol University Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital have conducted a press conference to push for the support of the Boxing Act B.E 1999 (2542) Amendment to protect young boxers’ well-beings especially their brain development. Backed by extensive scientific evidences which illuminates the extents the damage the young boxer’s brain sustained over a prolonged period of boxing, the research team which includes Prof. Jiraporn Laothamatas, MD, Adisak Plitponkarnpim, MD, and Witaya Sungkarat, MD, Ph.D, seek to plead for governmental as well associal support in order to transform the current landscape of this perilous sport into one that is safe and enjoyable for all. |
