CT contrast Media is the agent used to enhance the contrast between the target organ and nearby organs. It is opaque to X-ray used with the CT scanner. Its main ingredients are iodine and organic compound. There are 2 types: contrast media giving electrochemical charges (cheap) and contrast media not-giving electrochemical charges (expensive). This type causes fewer side effects. CT contrast media can cause side effects and allergic reactions such as nausea, vomiting, rash, pain, hot flash, chill, fever, headache, dizziness, fatigue, hypotension, hypertension, itching, urticaria, sneezing, coughing, and fainting. |
