8th Southeast Asian Regional Pharmacy Genetics Network Conference

Project Name 8th Southeast Asian Regional Pharmacy Genetics Network Conference
Background and Significance The Medical Genome Center, in collaboration with Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (Public Organization) (TCELS) has established the South East Asian Pharmacogenomics Research Network (SEAPharm) in 2012 in order to promote and build a research network in pharmaceutical genetics within the ASEAN region. Membership included people from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei, and the Philippines, in addition to members from Japan acting as mentors throughout the seminar. Operational traning and orientations in collaborative research in the field of pharmacogenetics were conducted, especially with referring to the side effect of drug-induced rashes. Therefore, it is important to optimize the administering of medication and drug therapy through the study of pharmacogenetics, and to provide the ASEAN region with the technology and knowledge in genetic screening for genetic use.
