Uses
- cyanide poisoning (together with sodium nitrite); pityriasis versicolor.
Prgnancy category: C
Dose
- Cyanide poisoning, after administration of sodium nitrite, by slow intravenous injection over about 10 minutes (rate 2.5 - 5 mL/min)
- ADULT, 12.5 g (50 mL of 25% sodium thiosulfate); further dose of 6.25 g after 30 minutes if symptoms recur
- CHILD, 250 mg/kg (1.0 mL/kg) or 30 - 40 mL/m2 of BSA (maximum dose 12.5 g)
Adverse drug reaction
- Hypotension, Nausea, Vomiting and prolong bleeding time (1 - 3 day after a single IV infusion)
